I grieved myself into envy, only to be cursed by greed…
A short poem…
Will a willow ever know why
Left in the sun to dry,
With the wind breaking its lies,
And its green fades and changes dyes.
Did the green fade, or did color return?
Was green always there, or only when it didn’t burn?
Was it just a dress to cover the yellow beneath,
Was it a soft shell to keep its hardness underneath?
I’m trying to see, so I too can learn
How even this fragile willow
Can survive the harshness of the cold in summer,
And the heat that comes in its coldest winters.
Can you see… perhaps?
Do you feel… it’s limited now?
Are you tired… maybe?
But still, I want to watch this willow murmur…
Because maybe it’s alive…
Who owed this to a willow,
For it to grow into a tree?
Please, help me extend a branch and lean on its soft leaves.
Let its hardness be a blessing not a curse.
And maybe what hurt you before…
Can it make you grow now?
I’m… so unsure.
Can I be like a willow?
Will the willow tell me why?
Why can’t I remain?
I want to hide this curtain in the green,
Maybe crush this fading yellow inside me,
Cage it in myself,
And still look as a final breeze…
Unlike the willow, I want to stifle myself.
I do not need the sun.
I want to remain enclosed.
And wither in the winter to come.
Can I extend the hand?
But even when I hold it,
The warmth is too unbearable
For me to leave my meadow.
I am used to the chill
Of the waning moon.
Why would warmth be in hands
When I only saw cold?
Why can’t I look at them
Like the willow sees the sky?
Should I forgive,
Like the willow forgave the sun?
It crumpled and dried every year,
And still held for another one.
But even in the winter, it’s a willow,
And in every season thereafter…
It will remain
The same forgiving willow.
Should I learn from the willow?
No.
Maybe I should crumple it too…
Of course, the willow forgave,
But the sun remained hot,
And the winter remained cold too.
Maybe…
What the willow wanted to say…
Was to endure….
In the end…the willow withered and died…
